壓電式加速度傳感器，又稱振動傳感器，是基于壓電晶體的壓電效應工作的。某些晶體在一定方向上受力變形時，其內部會產生極化現(xiàn)象，同時在它的兩個表面上產生符號相反的電荷；當外力去除后，又重新恢復到不帶電狀態(tài)，這種現(xiàn)象稱為“壓電效應"，具有“壓電效應"的晶體稱為壓電晶體。常用的壓電晶體有石英、壓電陶瓷等，在現(xiàn)代生產生活中被應用于許許多多的方面，如手提電腦的硬盤抗摔保護，目前用的數(shù)碼相機和攝像機里，也有加速度傳感器，用來檢測拍攝時候的手部的振動，并根據這些振動，自動調節(jié)相機的聚焦。壓電加速度傳感器還應用于汽車安全氣囊、防抱死系統(tǒng)、牽引控制系統(tǒng)等安全性能方面。

美國Dytran的3123A是一款微型加速度傳感器/振動傳感器，適用于振動實驗室，轉配電動振動器和控制系統(tǒng)使用。

The Dytran 3123A is a double ended IEPE reference (comparison) accelerometer, offering a convenient means of determining the sensitivity and frequency response characteristics of unknown acceleration, velocity and displacement sensors. A vibration laboratory already equipped with an electrodynamic shaker and control system can easily incorporate use of the model 3123A to accomplish in-house NIST traceable calibrations. Model 3123A offers a 100 mV/g sensitivity, and mounts to a shaker head via a 10-32 tapped hole.

Back-to-back comparisons with a double ended calibration standard accelerometer, such as the Dytran model 3123A, entails mounting the test accelerometer directly to the top mounting surface of the calibration standard (model 3123A) and driving the coupled pair with an electrodynamic shaker system at various frequencies and amplitudes. At each test frequency, the amplitude is set and the corresponding output read from the test accelerometer. To form a complete measurement system, the user will need to supply the cables, power supply unit and electrodynamic shaker system. The model 3123A should be used for low frequency, low g level measurements.
